IVET BAHAR, PhD
Dr. Bahar is a Distinguished Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Computational and Systems Biology at the School of Medicine of the University of Pittsburgh. She co-founded the joint Carnegie Mellon University-University of Pittsburgh Ph.D. Program in Computational Biology. Dr. Bahar is a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
BONNIE BERGER, PhD
Dr. Berger is the Simons Professor of Mathematics at MIT with joint appointments in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She is the Head of the Computation and Biology group at MIT’s Computer Science and AI Lab. Dr. Berger is the Vice President of the International Society for Computational Biology and a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
JAY FLATLEY
Jay Flatley is the Former Chairman and CEO of Illumina. He led the company during two decades of unprecedented growth resulting in Illumina’s market leadership in developing next-generation sequencing systems and technologies. Mr. Flatley served Illumina as CEO and Executive Chair, and he currently is the Chair of its Board of Directors.
BARRY HONIG, PhD
Dr. Honig is a Professor of Systems Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, and Medicine at Columbia University. He is the Founding Director of the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and a Member of the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University. Dr. Honig is a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
MING HSIEH
Ming Hsieh is the Chairman, President, and CEO of Fulgent Genetics. Prior to founding Fulgent, a leading genetic testing company, he founded Cogent, a biometric identification company. Mr. Hsieh is a Trustee of the University of Southern California and of Fudan University. He holds an honorary doctorate from USC and is the namesake of USC’s Electrical Engineering Department and the Ming Hsieh Institute for Cancer Research. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
MIKE LEVINE, PhD
Dr. Levine is the Director of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics and a Professor of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. He previously was a Professor of Genetics at UC Berkeley, Chairman of the Chancellor’s Advisory Council for Biology, and Head of the Division of Genetics, Genomics, and Development. Dr. Levine is a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
ANDREW VITERBI, PhD
Dr. Viterbi is a Co-founder, Former Chairman and CTO of Qualcomm. He proposed the Viterbi algorithm to eliminate signal interference, which paved the way for the widespread use of cellphone communication. Dr. Viterbi served on the US President’s Information Technology Advisory Committee, and he is a Life Trustee of the University of Southern California. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences.
BIN YU, PhD
Dr. Yu is a Chancellor’s Distinguished Professor of Statistics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California Berkeley. She is a Former Chair of UC Berkeley’s Department of Statistics and was President of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. Dr. Yu is a Member of the National Academy of Sciences.
