Michael "Doc" Edge will join the QCB section as Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences starting in 2020. Doc's PhD in Biology is from Stanford University, and he has conducted postdoctoral work at the University of California, Davis. He develops statistical methods and mathematical models in population genetics, with a particular focus on the intersections of population genetics with medical and forensic applications. Doc has an interest in teaching statistical material, and his textbook, Statistical Thinking from Scratch, will be published by Oxford University Press in summer 2019.
